Brow lift surgery is usually applied to young – middle-aged patients. After the mid-thirties, a more comprehensive attempt to rejuvenate the face, such as temple hanging instead of eyebrow lifting, is more correct.
Brow Lift Surgery Techniques
Suspension method:This is a method that belongs to our instructor Onur Erol. The procedure is extremely simple, a half-inch cut is made in the scalp, and a long stitch is lowered to the eyebrow and the eyebrow is pulled upwards with this stitch.
The best part of the method is that it is extremely simple. I can say that it is almost not an operation. It is a highly controlled, easy, risk-free and effective method.
The only problem is that the effect lasts very short. Generally, the raised eyebrows go back to their original places within a few months to a year.
Endoscopic method:This is done with a few centimeters of cut in the scalp, similar to temple lift surgery. By pulling the eyebrows up from the inside, they can be lifted and given the desired shape.
Other methods:There are a few other techniques that are used less frequently. In these, a cut is made on the upper eyelid or in the eyebrow, and the eyebrow is hung up. In a very old technique, a long cut is made on the upper border of the eyebrow (I don’t know if anyone still applies it, but I recommend you not to have surgery with this technique that leaves a lot of scars).
If you say which one is better, my preference is mostly endoscopic.
The fact that the sling method is not long-lasting, sometimes even a few months, is repulsive to many patients.
Complications
There is almost no serious complication that may occur in the sling method. The only problem is asymmetry and eyebrows falling back to their former places in a short time.
Endoscopic technique:There is almost no chance of serious bleeding and infection. Small accumulations of blood (hematoma) that may occur will not cause a serious problem. In cases of inflammation, in addition to antibiotic treatment, surgical removal of the inflammation may rarely be required.
Asymmetry: In this surgery, the failure of one of the sutures carrying the tissues to perform its duty may cause asymmetry. In this case, this suture may need to be put back on.
Loss of feeling: Rarely, there may be a loss of sensation around the eyebrows. However, these will usually go away after a few weeks. Months-long losses may rarely be encountered, but they will eventually recover.
Hair loss may also occur rarely. But the hair will definitely come back.
FAQ
How will I look after the brow lift operation?
What kind of result will be obtained when applying a technique is completely up to the doctor. I think the important thing is not to raise eyebrows, but to give a straight and attractive shape.
Is this surgery done alone?
Yes, it is done frequently. Some people have droopy eyebrows even at a very young age. It is usually performed with temple lift surgery over the age of 35. Temporary lift surgery can provide some percentage rejuvenation.
How long does the effect of these surgeries last?
The eyebrow shape given by the endoscopic technique becomes permanent. However, over the years, the entire forehead will sag, and the eyebrows will go down a bit.
TIPS:
• If you do not want to have surgery, you can only shape your eyebrows with botox. Generally, after 3 months, its effect will start to decrease and it will disappear completely in the sixth month.
• If you are at the age of 35, I recommend the temple lift surgery, which is the top of the eyebrow lift surgery. This will also open up your crow’s feet and shape your midface.
• If you are over 50, I recommend classical facelift and endoscopic midface surgeries. Eyebrow hanging methods alone will not work very well.
• If you want a temporary result with the smallest method, eyebrow hanging technique may be suitable for you. Sometimes the eyebrows hung with this technique keep their shape for up to a year.
WHAT AWAITS YOU AFTER THE SURGERY
You can return to work the day after the eyebrow lift surgery. The procedure takes half an hour, local anesthesia is sufficient. The procedure can also be done in the office conditions.
The endoscopic technique can also be performed under local anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour. A day or two of rest is enough, you don’t need to be hospitalized. It is a surgery that causes very little swelling and bruising and heals very quickly. If you have surgery on the weekend, you can return to work on Monday.
It is not a painful operation at all. For the first few days, you will lie down with your head held high and apply lots of ice.
